Benedetto Buglioni
Born in : Florence - 1459 / Dead in : 1521
Benedetto Buglioni was born in Florence in around 1460. His father was the sculptor Giovanni di Bernardo. Buglioni worked together with Andrea della Robbia, who taught him several glazing technique. In the early 1480s Buglioni began his own studio in Florence.

Biography
Most of his work here was terracotta sculpture in the style of Della Robbia. He based his compositions on the work of other Florentine sculptors. Between 1487 and 1490 Buglioni and his brother Francesco worked in Perugia where he created an altar for the local cathedral. Later, again in collaboration with his brother, he worked on a number of pieces for the shrine of Santa Cristina in Bolsena. Towards the end of his life Buglioni made many polychrome altarpieces.
