Born in : Suisse - 1857 / Dead in : Florence, 1891Despite his few years, Karl Stauffer-Bern led a very eventful life and emerged as one of Germany's finest etchers of the late nineteenth century. He first studied art at the Academy of Munich, under Loefftz. At this time he also took individual instructions in etching techniques under his friend and fellow artist, Peter Halm. By 1880 Karl Stauffer-Bern had moved to Berlin to complete his studies and open a studio.
