The mortuary temple of Queen Hatshepsut

Description

As in the colossal granite figure nearby, Hatshepsut wears the royal nemes headdress of Egypt's male rulers. The small size of this statue suggests that it may originally have been placed in a niche somewhere in Hatshepsut's funerary temple. Fragments of a sculpture of similar size and form were also recovered from a dump near the temple, indicating that a pair of such statues once existed.
