 | Description | |
This letter, written in dialect of Akkadien language, was sent by the rulers of Assyria and Tyre to the king of Egypt. It expresses Assyria's desire to renew relations with Egypt after a period of relative seclusion. An other letter states that the ruler of Tyre, a vassal of Egypt, has carried out the commands of Egyptian king and is protectiong the city. The letters are remarkable for the light they shed on the historical and international situation of the time and also reveal the bilingualism of the age.
