Description

The existence of this palette suggests that the royal princesses were educated in the scribal arts. The palette is inscribed for "the king's own beloved daughter, Meketaten, born of the chief wife Nefernefruaten-Nefertiti, given life forever, eternally". The last phrase implies that the palette was a funerary gift for the princess, who died during her father's reign.
