Description

The place that Louis Comfort Tiffany reportedly loved best - Cold Spring Harbor at Oyster Bay - may have inspired this window, which was made at the Tiffany's Studios about 1905. Blue, one of the Tiffany's favorite colors doniates. Wisteria, a recurring Tiffany motif frames the water and the rolling hills. Made for the William Skinner house at East Thirty-ninth Street in Manhattan, the subject recalls the many wisteria vines that surronded Skinner's country house, Wisteriahurst in Mount Holyoke, Massachusetts.
