 | Description | |
This fresco and the others one in this gallery date from 1740s and were removed about 1900 from a long room in the Palazzo Valle-Marchesini-Sala in Vicenza. The circular freco decorated the ceiling and it meant to simulate a sculpted relief. The standing allegorical figures simulate statues on pedestals and were designed by Tiepolo and painted in part by him and in part by his workshop. The feigned architecture was painted by a scenographic specialist, Girolamo Mengozzi, who frequently collabored with Tiepolo on decorative fresco cycles.
