 | Description | |
The technique of punched dots (opus punctorium) to create a composition originated with goldsmith work and in many respects is a precursor to the art of engraving. Originally forming a triptych, the attendant Bishop saint may associated this devotional object with a specific city as Cologne or Mainz.
