This triptych panel displays three scenes from the life of Christ : the Annunciation, the Crucifixion and the Women at the tomb. The ring wing would have carried three more scenes and the center probably a single large image, or perhaps six additional scenes to complete a full cycle corresponding to twelve holy days in the Orthodox Church calendar. The outside of the panel, visible when the triptych was closed, shows two unidentified standing saints.
