The circular or crescent-shaped pendants, known as temple pendants (Kolti), were worn in pairs suspended beside the face, as part of the elaborate headdress of a Rus' woman.
The pendants were uncovered in 1906 near Mykhailivs'kyi Zolotoverkhyi (Saint Michael's of the Golden Domes) Monastery in Kiev.
