 | Description | |
The five rock crystal works exhibited in this case were founded in a cistern in Carthage. They demonstrate the quality of the arts of a great city as the Roman world became Byzantine.
Fish and shells carved in relied decorate this fragment of bowl. When complete, it may have been suspended by chains and filled with oil for use as a lamp.
