From a tomb at Zaneskaya Gora in the region of Crimea on the northern shore of the Black Sea. A fragment of this wreath is now in the Hermitage Museum in Saint Petersburg.
Funerary wreaths such as this one have been found in tombs in Macedonia, South Italy, Asia Minor and north Pontic region where they became a popular offering in the 4th century B.C. Gold wreaths were also worn at festivals, presented as prizes in competitions and served as dedications at sanctuaries. Both men and women wore gold wreaths in ancient Greece.
