 | Description | |
Sehetepibreanhk was buried in a mastaba near the pyramid of Senwosret I, but finds from his tomb suggest the steward died in the reign of Senwosret III. The statue itself may be slightly earlier in date. It is an excellent example of the private sculpture of the first half of Dynasty 12. The face is youthful, the muscles emphasized and the wig and the kilt are elaborately detailed. His air of cheerful confidence is in sharp contrast to the careworn expression found in the royal portraits of the second half of Dynasty 12.
