 | Description | |
This head of a king wears the royal nemes headcloth. The large, wide-open eyes, the arching eyebrow carved in relief, and the configuration of the ears suggest a date during the joint reign of Hatschepsut and Thutmosis III. The uraeus, set halfway up the broadband of the headcloth, is similar in placement and form to the divine cobra on one of the large kneeling statues of Hatschepsut in gallery 12, but statues of Thutmosis III also sometimes exhibit this type of uraeus and an absolute identification of the ruler portrayed here is not possible.
