 | Description | |
To paint this panoramic view of the village of Marly-le-Roi, where Sisley was living in 1876, he set up his easel in a garden on the property of Robert Le Lubez in the hamlet of Coeur-Volant. Le Lubez was a noted amateur singer and patron of such composers such as Gounod and Saint-Saëns. In winter 1876, Sisley executed two similar views, which also show the steeple of the church Saint-Victor rising above the houses in the background.
