Description

Between 1882 and 1885, Cézanne painted several pictures in which Mont Sainte-Victoire, to the east of Aix-en-Provence, forms a background to the vast panorama of the valley of the Arc River. The present work is one of the four painted from a hill at Bellevue, the estate of Cézanne's brother-in-law, Maxime Conil.
