 | Description | |
The thin, watercolor-like application of paint is typical of Cézanne's oil in the mid-1890s. The scene is traditionally identified as the Forest of Fontainebleau, where Cézanne worked around 1894, but it as also been suggested that the picture was painted near Aix-en-Provence.
