Safavid valuable objects in this case, belonging to Shah Ismail, were among the spoils of war brought back by Selim I following the Battle of Caldiran in 1514. The belt has a plaque fepicting a horseman with the name and titles of Shah Ismail and the date 913 (1507) around the edge.
