 | Description | |
Ankhnesneferibre was the last "God wife of Amun" before the Persian conquest of 535 BC. The lid shows her clasping the royal crook and flail, symbolising her powerful position in Thebes. The sarcophagus was reused in the Roman times by Amenhotep-Pimentu, a priest, who added the inscriptions around the upper edge of the coffer. He also added his own name in the princess's cartouches and changed the pronouns in the text.
