Description   

First set up before the temple of Amenophis III at Soleb, this lion was transported with its companion to Gebel Barkal by the Meroitic ruler Amanislo, in the third century BC. The names of the original owner are inscribed on the pedestal and those of the usurper on the lion's chest.
