Description   

In addition to the genre subjects and realistic statuettes of workers for which he is best known, Dalou sculpted mythological subjects Ariadne, daughter of King Minos, was left behind by Theseus after she helped him to escape from the labyrinth. Venus took pity on Ariadne and promised her an immortal lover, Bacchus who consoled and ultimately married her.
