 | Description | |
Monet moved to the village of Giverny, on the Seine, west of Paris, in 1883. In 1893, he bought a plot of land adjacent to his house and built a pond for exotic water plants, decorating it with a Japanese-style bridge painted green. This painting is from the first of several series inspired by views of the water garden.
