 | Description | |
Von Klenze, primarily known for his accomplishments as the chief architect and head of public works in Munich from 1816 to 1864, was also a talented painter. In his Munich studio he re-created this view of Massa, a town near Genoa, working from the many sketches he had made in Italy seven years earlier. The integration of landscape and man-made element reveals an architect's sensitivity to issues of spatial construction.
