Description

Born in Paris of English parents, Sisley was one of the founding members of the group of artists known as the Impressionists. A pure landscape painter, Sisley celebrated the intimate qualities of the places he lived, exploring the effects of changing light and weather. Painting "The Road from Versailles" outdoors in front of his subject, Sisley used broken strokes of brilliant color to fill the lush French suburban landscape with summer sunshine.
