Description

In this Daddi's figures display the natural, human quality that epitomizes the spirit of the Renaissance. Modeled with subtle gradations of light and shade, they are endowed with a powerful physical presence. The virgin gestures over the marble parapet as if she is reaching out toward the viewer. In this way, Mary is celebrated as a potent intercessor -the serene, compassionate link between the human world and the realm of God.
