This picture, formerly in the Lathrop collection in New York, has been attributed to Michelangelo di Pietro Membrini, a follower of Filippino Lippi (about 1457-1504) in Lucca. The praying donor in the panel is related to the prominent Guinigi and Buonvisi families of Lucca, whose coats of arms are depicted on the throne of the Madonna.
