 | Description | |
This panel originally formed part of an altarpiece wing. This scene illustrates an episode from the story of the three kings. High in the mountains, Caspar, Melchior, and Balthazar observe the star that will lead them to Bethlehem. Below, the prophets David and Isaiah hold scrolls predicting the Kings' worship of the Christ child. The joyful celebration of the kings proclaims the unification of mankind at the birth of Jesus.
