Description   

The far-reaching influence of Rogier van der Weyden is illustrated by the numerous versions of his major compositions by other artists. This panel is based on a lost "Deposition" by Rogier. The body of the crucified Christ is carried from the cross to the tomb by two of his followers, Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus.
