| Judgement of the Goddesses Item 9 on 22 Flemish and Northern Painting Painting
| | | |
 | Description | |
Asked to decide who is the most beautiful of the three goddesses, Paris awards the golden apple to Venus, goddess of love. Minerva, with her amour and owl, is on the left; Juno, her peacock at her feet, is on the right. Paris' choice led to the Trojan War; hence the presence of the Fury of War in the sky.
