 | Description | |
In the centre a terrified rider is pulled from his horse by a lion, while men with lances and sabers battle to save him. Beneath the horse's hooves another hunter lies dead. In this rapidly painted sketch Rubens is experimenting with ideas -the central group is repeated in a slightly different pose, top right.
