 | Description | |
Tanaquil persuaded her husband Lucomo to move to Rome where he was elected king. After his assassination she helped Servius Tullius secure the kingdom. These events are recorded in Latin on the tablet to which she points. This painting and 'Marcia' (displayed nearby) formed part of a series of pictures of heroines from ancient history, made for a Sienese palace.
