Description

Women harvest wheat in a field on the edge of the deep blue sea. This stretches away into the horizon, emphasizing their isolation. The simplified, unrealistic forms, and the bright contrasting colors are intended to demonstrate the primitivism of life in Le Pouldu in the far west of France, where life is eked out from the poor soil and the sea.
