 | Description | |
This work is based on preparatory drawing and oil sketches. Asnières is a suburb of Paris. On the right is the Island of the Grande Jatte and in the distance are the factories of Clichy. Seurat reworked parts of the picture, such as the hat of the boy on the right, after he had invented his revolutionary technique known as "divisionism".
