 | Description | |
After the Crucifixion, two of Christ's disciples set out for Emmaus. Christ joined them, disguised as a pilgrim, and explained the prophecies about his Resurrection. As they broke bread together at an inn in Emmaus, the disciples recognized him as the risen Christ (Luke 24: 13-29). The goldfinch in the foreground symbolizes Christ's passion.
