Description

Aged 12, Christ debated in the temple of Jerusalem with scholars and priests: 'all that heard him were amazed at his understanding and his answers' (Luke 2: 41-8.). Luini, who worked in Milan, was deeply influenced by Leonardo. The painting was once very famous, and formerly believed to be by Leonardo. Many other versions of it are known.
