Description

The girl looking at us looking at her, the telescope and fish bowl, play on ideas of vision and illusion. The picture as a whole is made to look like a mounted print. The subject may derive from a (now lost) painting by Boilly exhibited at the Paris Salon of 1799.

Signed on the picture : Boilly - and on the feigned mount : L. Boilly
