 | Description | |
Dosso was a court painter to Afonso d'Este, Duke of Ferrara. A man - perhaps Alfonso's clown, II Gonella - embraces a female figure, who might be a nymph. This is a fragment of a ceiling decoration from the castle at Ferrara, painted as a circular opening through which figures could be glimpsed.
