Description   

John the Baptist presents his cousin Christ with gifts : a baptismal bowl and wild strawberries (representing Christ's fruitful and righteous life). Christ gazes rapturously at a reed cross, as if foreseeing his crucifixion, while his mother looks on with tender sadness. The older woman is probably her mother, Saint Anne.
