Description

One of Christ's tormentors places the crown of thorns on his head. Another prepares to tear his garments. The spiked collar of the man, top right, resembles a dof collar. In contemporary devotional literature, Christ's tormentors were likened to savage dogs. Bosch's preliminary drawing is visible on Christ's body.
