Christ is being washed, anointed and wrapped in his shroud before being carried to the tomb on the right, which Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus can be seen leaving. This painting and 'The Adoration of the Kings' (shown alongside) seem to have been part of the same altarpiece.
