This is a place where the Buddha attained the divine (inner) eye when he left his mediative state and went to stand in a spot on the northwest side of the Bothi Tree Seat (Throne). There, he pondered the ten perfections he had attained. To show his gratitude, he concentrated his gaze on the Bothi Tree for seven days within blinking.
Description
The Chedi at present in an octagonal shape decorated with niches containing Buddha images. The Chedi was set on a raised base used for walking around in a clockwise direction. The base is 10.40 meters wide and 10.60 leters long outside the boundary wall of the chapel. The original Chedi was probably a small structure of a Buddha image built as a symbol and was later expanded to a larger size. Its base is close to the boundary wall of the chapel with a stairway on the east, causing the north entrance to be permanently closed off by bricks and the gate at the corner of the boundary wall of the chapel on the northwest is used instead. The Buddha image place on the Animis Chedi is one in the standing meditation posture with both eyes wide open and the hands placed over each other near the belly.
