History   
The Syouyoen garden referred to Hakkei in order to take care of the successor's homesick because Rinnoji Temple used to invite its successor from the Imperial family. The Imperial family was familiar with the view of Hakkei in Oumi in Shiga prefecture.
The Syouyoen garden was made in early Edo period originally, but reformed in the beginning of 19th century. A Confucian scholar, Issai Sato gave a name of Syouyoen when it was reformed. You will find the building, which enshrines successive successors and Imperial family. It is located on the direction of east.
Description   
The Syouyoen is a typical Japanese garden, which was made in Edo period. This style of garden is called Chisen Kaiyu Shiki (Short excursion around the pond).
