Constructed in the early Qing Dynasty, Jian Ting was where imperial family members practiced military arts. The pavilion is five bays wide and three bays deep, with a gable roof. It is surrounded by winding corridors on all four sides.
Description
On the stone tablets to the east and to the west are decrees inscribed by Emperor Qianlong and Emperor Jiaqing, respectively, warning the descendants of the privileged families under the Banner System in the Qing Dynasty not to forget the customs of their Manchu ancestors, but to practice horsemanship and archery. It was also the site where the emperor examines the successful candidates in the highest imperial military examinations.
