Monbijou Park was named after the Monbijou Palace erected by Eosander von Göthe in 1703. It served as the summer residence of Queen Sophie Dorothea until 1757. In 1877, the newly founded Hohenzollern Museum moved into the building. It was completely destroyed during the Second World War, the collection moved elsewhere and part of it carried off as booty. A park with a children's pool was laid out on the site and opened to the general public in 1960. |
