 Dynastie Ming The wall stands 12 meters tall, 12-14 meters wide at the top and 15-18 meters thick at the bottom. It covers 13.7 kilometers (8.5 miles) in length with a deep moat surrounding it.

|  | Bell Tower (9) Zhonglou Dynastie Ming - between 1384 and 1582 The Bell Tower, is a stately traditional building, that marks the geographical center of the ancient capital. From this important landmark extend East, South, West and North Streets, connecting the Tower to the East, South, West and North Gates of the City Wall of the Ming Dynasty.

|  | Drum Tower (4) Beiyuan men Dynastie Ming - 1380 The Drum Tower is located northwest of the Bell Tower, across the square. Both of them are called the "sister buildings" or "morning bell and dark drum". In ancient China, especially from the Yuan Dynasty (1271/1368), the drums were used to signal the running of time and on occasion were used as an alarm in emergency situations.

|  | Great Mosque in Xi'an (13) Qing Zhen Si Dynastie Ming - approx. between 1392 and 1398 The Great Mosque in Xian is one of the oldest, largest and best-preserved Islamic mosques in China. It is located northwest of the Drum Tower (Gu Lou) on Huajue Lane (Haujue Xiang). It is surrounded by the old houses and narrow lanes of the Muslim district.
