 Fontaines et bassins - between 1768 and 1683 Excavated in 1678, the Pièce d'Eau des Suisses - named for the Swiss Guard who constructed the lake - occupied an area of marshes and ponds, some of which had been used to supply water for the fountains in the garden.

 Canaux - between 1667 and 1680 With a length of 1,500 meters and a width of 62 meters, the Grand Canal, which was built between 1668-1671, physically and visually prolongs the east-west axis to the walls of the Grand Parc. During the Ancien Régime, the Grand Canal served as a venue for boating parties.
