| Kyoto Railway Station (12) 京都駅 - Kyōto-eki
 1997 The new Kyoto Station building was built on the occasion of the 1.200th anniversary of the Heian Capital foundation. It was opened to the public in 1997. A department store, hotel, theater, game center, shopping mall, government offices, various restaurants and an observation deck can be found on the facility's 15+ floors.

| Nijo-jo (19) Kyoto Castle
 between 1603 and 1626 This castle was built in 1603 by Shogun Tokugawa Ieyasu to protect the Imperial palace, and also as his residence when he visited Kyoto. It was considerably expanded in 1626. However, difficulties of maintenance led to some of the buildings being relocated or demolished, whilst the main keep burned down in 1750 and the Honmaru Goten (palace) in 1788.
